TIMBER PRODUCTS Forestry Certification

The growing marketplace for green products is expanding every day.

Consumers are demanding that the products they buy and the companies they buy from be environmentally responsible.  The professional staff at Timber Products Inspection (TP) has the necessary knowledge and programs to ensure compliance in this constantly changing marketplace.  TP currently offers third party auditing programs that cover both the NAHB – National Green Building Program and the a Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Chain of Custody program.


Chain of custody certification is a tool used to track certified wood fiber through the different stages of production to the end user.  This program promotes sustainability of the forest products we use every day.  It also assures consumers that the forest based materials they buy are from legal and responsible sources. 

Any company that processes or trades SFI-certified forest products, including manufacturers of forest products, paper merchants, converters, wood dealers, wood yards, wholesalers, brokers and printers can seek SFI chain-of-custody certification.  These companies must have processes such as inventory control, employee training, reporting and invoicing so they can track raw materials from certified forests through production and manufacturing to the end product.  Many businesses with more than one location have received certification covering multiple sites. 

The SFI program at TP gives companies the solution they need to ensure compliance.  TP’s SFI Chain of Custody program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

TP offers consulting for any green building project, performance testing, and verification services for the NAHB Green Building Standard (including NAHB Green Building Standard, LEED, Energy Star, etc.).

The National Green Building Standard (the standard) is a residential green building rating system. The standard goes beyond the requirements of the International Residential Code to set green baselines for all new residential construction, development, and remodeling projects. It establishes green practices for all residential building and development including single-family homes, multifamily residential buildings, mixed use residential, residential remodeling and additions, and land development.
